Bootcut jeans are made for boots. Fitted through the thigh and gently widening below the knee, they fall neatly over cowboy boots without hiding their shape. At Wild Nord, explore bootcut jeans for women and men, with high-rise and low-rise fits in classic blue, black and white denim. Choose a clean, everyday look or western-inspired details such as embroidery, leopard print and horse motifs. There are subtle styles for easy outfit building and standout pairs that bring a little rodeo spirit to your wardrobe.
Bootcut jeans: a western classic
The bootcut shape has practical roots in ranch life. Cowboys needed jeans that could sit comfortably over their boots and work well in the saddle, so the leg was designed to widen slightly from the knee. In the 1970s, the silhouette became wider still and became known as flare. Today, you can find both shapes, from understated bootcut jeans to distinctly flared denim with a retro feel.
Bootcut, flare or flared jeans?
Bootcut jeans widen gently from the knee and are the classic choice with boots. Flare jeans and flared jeans have a more pronounced width, creating a longer, more 1970s-inspired silhouette. All three styles pair well with cowboy boots, while bootcut is often the easiest shape to wear every day. Think about how much volume you want at the hem when choosing your pair.
Women’s bootcut jeans
High-rise bootcut jeans are a popular choice for women. The higher waist creates a long leg line and makes it easy to tuck in a shirt or blouse. For a more relaxed Y2K-inspired look, try a low-rise fit. Stretch flare jeans offer comfortable movement throughout the day, while embroidered western jeans with flowers, bows or hearts add a playful detail. Pair a statement design with a simple top to keep the look balanced.
Men’s bootcut jeans
Men’s bootcut jeans usually have a straight, slightly roomier fit through the thigh and knee, with a subtle flare at the hem. Black styles are easy to dress up, while blue and light-wash denim give outfits a classic cowboy feel. For a bolder silhouette, explore men’s flared jeans in dark blue. Choose a cut that feels comfortable when standing, walking or sitting, and let the hem fall naturally over your boots.
How to choose the right bootcut jeans
Waist and fit
High-rise jeans sit at or just below the navel, while low-rise styles sit on the hips for a more relaxed look. Consider which rise feels most comfortable and suits the outfits you have in mind. Choose your usual waist size, then check the size guide on the product page for fit details before ordering.
Length
Bootcut jeans are usually a little longer than straight-leg jeans, so the hem covers part of the boot shaft or heel. Try them on with the footwear you plan to wear most often to check the length. If you have shorter legs, you can turn the hem inward or have the jeans shortened by a tailor.
Colour and details
Dark blue is a versatile choice, black feels polished, and white bootcut jeans bring a summery western mood. Embroidery and prints make the jeans the focal point of an outfit, so combine them with a simple top, shirt or jacket. For a classic look, keep the rest of your colours understated.
How to style your bootcut jeans
The natural pairing is bootcut jeans with cowboy boots, a western belt and a checked shirt or denim shirt. Women can also wear them with a cropped blouse, suede jacket or fringed vest. For an evening outfit, heeled boots and a simple black top create a sleek, elongated silhouette. Men can combine black bootcut jeans with a leather jacket and black boots. A tucked-in shirt helps show the waist and belt, while a relaxed top gives the outfit an easy everyday feel.
Bootcut jeans for different body shapes
The gentle flare at the hem can balance the hips and thighs and make the legs look longer, especially with a high-rise fit and heeled boots. The overall effect depends on the rise, length and footwear, so try different combinations to find a silhouette that feels right for you.
Care
Wash your jeans inside out at 30°C and as infrequently as practical to help them retain their colour and shape. Avoid tumble drying, especially for stretch denim and embroidered styles. Hang them by the waistband to air dry, and always follow the care instructions on the product page.
